First Automobile Car in the Philippines

Georges Richard Automobile model
In 1900, La Estrella del Norte shipped from France to the Philippines a "Georges Richard", the first ever automobile to have landed in the Philippines. Its owner was one Dr. Miciano, a rich doctor. The first shipment of automobiles for sale in the country was in 1907, with Bachrach Motors , an affiliate of American firm Ford Motor Co. (a well-known luxury car model company today) as the importer.

The automobile company that manufactures this vehicle was owned by Frenchman Georges Richard who died 1922. Georges Richard ran a short lived automobile manufacturing firm from 1897 under his own name, copying Benz cars of the era. In 1900, he bought a license from the Belgian Vivinus to build voiturettes. The designer Brasier joined the firm in 1902 and the marque became Richard-Brasier.
